Very often you will come across the advertisement ‘translators needed’ in newspapers. So, foreign language courses are gaining in popularity.

How to Learn a Foreign Language to become a Translator?

Many institutes and universities in India offer courses on foreign languages. The major languages on which courses are offered are German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Persian, Arabic, and Chinese. There is an eligibility criterion for getting admission to these courses.

Foreign Language Degree Courses:

The courses usually offered are bachelor’s degree course of 3 years duration, integrated course in Foreign Languages of 5 years duration, diploma or certificate courses of 6 months duration, M.A, M.Phil, and even Ph.D.

Scope of Translators jobs in India:

As India is a developing country, work force is available at cheap cost. So many countries are outsourcing their work to India. Non-English speaking countries are finding it beneficial to get their work translated to English, from India. They are outsourcing work to India.

English speaking youth in India are learning foreign languages so that they can translate the work of that country into English or vice versa. Prominent among the languages are Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, Russian, German etc. So translator’s jobs in India have a bright future.

Freelance translator’s jobs are also offered to those proficient in a particular language. Online jobs translators are sought by various jobs providing websites.

    What is your age and experience? for you i would suggest to create a profile on professional networking web sites. And you can also work as a faculty at French classes. If you have capital, then start your own classes. If I find any work regarding you i will mail you the links.

    Our culture is changing slowly. And the language which you know are not very popular and used in India. Big companies, where engineering works are carried out. There you can find job. But in normal life you may do something else. Or you have to wait till you finnd the job. May be some websites can provide you such work still it is difficult to find Japanese translation Job. But don’t loose hope.
